Tails of the Trade

Tails of the Trade

It’s a rainy day here in “sunny” south Florida but we’re off to a running start! Got to my first groom appointment early so I took advantage of the extra time to do some spot cleaning in the van. I can’t stand having a dirty mirror behind the table! How am I supposed to see the back of the dog?

First up was beautiful toy poodle Rosie, who’s an every 4 week regular in the grooming salon. Regular groomings help to keep Rosie’s skin condition under control and prevent her fur from matting. Besides, who doesn’t like a clean and fresh smelling dog?

Not being able to see doesn’t affect Rosie’s ability to orient towards the treats!

Next on the grooming schedule for the day was little miss Molly. Now Molly has some issues with her legs being handled, so sometimes she can be a little nippy. I’m not a fan of muzzles, however, so an Elizabethan collar helps to keep me safe while keeping Molly from feeling restricted and overwhelmed. She can still express her feelings without me risking life and limb 🙃.

Speaking of nipping, Zach had his first training session with me. Zach is just a puppy and doesn’t know that his razor sharp baby teeth really hurt! His people learned all about how to resolve boredom, prevent Zach from biting and how to redirect him on to other more appropriate chew toys. Zach and his people were great students and are setting off on the right paw for a happy household that doesn’t involve flashing teeth!
